Prerequisites
(i) Being able to top-rope belay and (ii) Comfortably able to climb >=5.9 grade at any of the indoor climbing gyms

This is the 2nd part of a 2-day "Learn to Lead" climbing series! The goal is to lower the barrier for folks who know how to top-rope to learn to lead climb safely in a gym. This trip is a day of outdoor climbing at Rumney, where we'll practice mock lead climbing and belaying on real climbs.

To sign up for this trip, please sign up for the TRS on Tuesday Oct 10 trip signup here! We will automatically add folks that get into the lottery on that trip to this trip, since they are intended to go together.

Requirements:

  • Know how to TR belay
  • Are attending the TRS
  • Own harness, climbing shoes
  • Do not already know how to lead climb
  • Preferably own assisted belay device (Megajul/Grigri etc.), but MITOC has Grigri’s available to rent

Will be provided / can rent from MITOC:

  • Helmet
  • quickdraws
  • ropes

Tentative schedule:

  • 7am - Leave Boston
  • 9am - meet in Rumney parking lot
  • 9am - 3pm - Climb!
  • 3:30pm - Leave Rumney
  • 5:30pm - Back to Boston
