For the last weekend for MRP, we'll be offering the option to go to the Gunks - a world-class trad climbing area in upstate New York. If you are a part of the MITOC Rock Program and interested in trad, join us for a weekend of climbing.

Itinerary

We will plan to leave Boston Friday, November 2nd in the evening and drive up to Samuel F. Pryor III Shawangunk Gateway Campground (AKA Gunks Campground)

There will be trip planning meetings on Friday night at 10:45pm and on Saturday night at 10pm at the main pavilion of the campground, please plan to be there for those meetings if you want to go on MRP trips the following day.

Sat & Sun we will run trips at the Gunks.

Sun after climbing we will all drive home!

Requirements

  • Bring all appropriate gear
  • Be a MRP participant or leader
  • Fill out the rideshare, trip preference form, and tentshare here (Please note that the trip preferences sheet is now split into separate tables for Saturday and Sunday, so to make sure we have enough leaders for each day. )
  • The allocated tent space at the campground is very small, so most people will have to share tents

Cost

Your MRP fee covers the trip fee, camping fee, light breakfast both days, and dinner on Sat.

Your MRP fee does not cover Friday dinner, any lunch, snacks, or gas money for your drivers.

The Mohonk Preserve requires a entry free to climb at the Gunks - $20 per day or $85-95 per year.

Gear

In addition to your climbing gear be sure to bring camping gear. We will not be staying at a cabin for this one so make sure you are prepared with a tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, etc.
