Join Mason, Pooya, and Steph for an attempt up the highest peak in the White Mountains via the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail and Crawford Path! This route is 8 miles with ~3800" of elevation gain and 3 miles of above treeline hiking. If conditions permit, we'll go down Jewell trail for some spectacular views. This isn't the normal route up Washington – it's more exposed and windier, so prepare for fewer people and worse conditions.

The current forecast for Saturday is rather abysmal, with a low at -8F and high winds expected. We'll break treeline at the Lakes of the Clouds hut and, if it is unsafe to travel to the Washington summit, may go up to Mt. Monroe instead. This route provides great opportunities to #embracethesuck and push ourselves through challenging weather and terrain.

Due to anticipated conditions, it is imperative you have experience with the requisite gear for this trip (full face covering, goggles, insulated winter boots, thick gloves/mittens, crampons, ice ax). It will also be crucial for us to move efficiently--high physical fitness/endurance for this trip means being able to go for 30+ minutes at maximum heart rate without breaking. Having previously completed a >12 mi. 3-season hike and being able to keep a >2mph winter hiking pace are other good metrics. Plan for short, efficient food and water breaks along the trail (conditions will not allow for lengthy stops).

Note that we will stay at MITOC's Camelot cabin in New Hampshire Friday night to ensure a timely start on Saturday morning.
