Prior ice climbing experience; bonus if you can lead belay

Thanks to climate change, we will be venturing further and deeper into the mountains to find some ice to climb! Its highly likely that we may be limited to dry tooling, or climbing some sketchy ice. Regardless, come and join us on this character building adventure filled with a long(ish) hike and heavy backpacks! : )

What

This is an intermediate ice climbing trip for those with prior and recent ice climbing experience and above treeline hikes. Be prepared to climb anything from sweet ice, hero ice, crappy ice, to no ice.

Goals

Finding climbable ice. Depending on what we find, we will work on some techniques (e.g. dry tooling, foot placements, etc.) and try to be more efficient ice climbers.

Cost

  • $20 - Covers trip fee and ice gear. Does not cover cabin fee, overnight gear, or gas for your driver.
  • +$7/night - If you plan to stay at Intervale

When

Saturday, January 27th 2018 at 8am

Where

TBD based on latest ice reports. Location will be posted Fri am.

Cabin Option (OPTIONAL):

Some folks will be staying at Intervale Friday and Saturday nights to cut down on the drive before/after climbing. You are welcome to stay at the cabin as part of this trip. Cabin fee is an additional $7 per person per night.
