Prerequisites
Previous winter hike experience, some exposure to above treeline

Want to spend extended time above treeline this weekend and practice your above treeline skills? Come join us as we tackle one of the highest peaks in the Presidential Range: Mt. Jefferson!

This will be a strenuous trip of approximately 9 miles, 3800 ft of elevation gain and over 3.5 miles of above treeline travel. We'll be taking the Jewel Trail 2.3 miles to Mt. Clay. We'll then hike 1.6 miles to the summit of Mt. Jefferson and retrace our steps back to the car.

The plan is to drive up very early Sunday morning and head back to Boston after the hike.

This should not be your first winter hike and you should have some familiarity with traveling above treeline. This is a great practice trip if you're interested in joining a Mount Washington trip next weekend!
