On Sunday, we'll lead a 4.0 mi hike to the top of Mount Lafayette, an exposed, above-treeline summit on Franconia Ridge. We'll admire the view on the summit, then descend back down to Eagle Lake (next to Greenleaf Hut), where we'll play some hockey!
Statistics: 8.0 mi roundtrip / 4500' elevation gain. Plan: leave Boston early Sunday morning, return Sunday night. (Some leaders may stay at Camelot Saturday night.)
This trip will provide the opportunity to practice crampon and alpine skating skills. MITOC does not have skates, so you will need to find your own (or boot-skate). You need to have the ability to cover all exposed skin (i.e., you must have a balaclava and ski goggles).
