7 miles, ~2,500' gain. Tired of hiking up and down the same way you came? Bored of the same old loop hikes time after time? Join us on a wily trip up to Mount Willey in the Crawford Nortch! This medium-hard trip will take us across the ups and downs of the Willey range, bagging Mounts Willey, Field, and Avalon.

We will start the trip by meeting up at the parking lot south of the WIlley House Site off of Route 302. Drivers will then spot a car north at the Saco Lake parking lot. W'll take the Kedron Flume Trail up to the Willey Range, then taking the Ethan Pond Trail north to the Willey Range Trail. After Mount Field, w'ell take the Avalon Trail south to Mount Avalon and then down to the ending parking lot.

This trip is about 7 miles total, with about 2,500 feet of elevation gain. We will practice various winter skills, including layer, microspike use, and of course the happiness triangle of eating, drinking, and peeing. *This trip will have a special focus on fitting packs properly, pacing ourselves, and coordinating group gear such that we are all supporting each other to have a safe and successful thru-hike. (Must have at least microspikes or crampons. All participants encouraged to have microspikes but crampons are fine. Trekking poles and ice axe optional).

*Note: One of the cars for this trip is leaving Intervale Cabin on Monday morning to head to the trailhead. If you are doing other hikes on the Intervale (East) side of the White Mountains on Saturday and/or Sunday, let your leaders know and join the carpool!
