This trip will either be a 2 day Avalanche Awareness course or be upgraded to a 2.5-3 day AIARE level I course. This will be held over the weekend of 3/18-3/19 and participants will stay at the Intervale Cabin.
Synnott Mountain guides teaches this course and among the topics covered include: Plan and prepare for travel in avalanche terrain. Recognize avalanche terrain. Describe a basic framework for making decisions in avalanche terrain. Learn and apply effective companion rescue using beacons and probes.
If participants elect for AIARE I, SMG has said they could either do a half day Friday session starting mid afternoon on Friday, followed by 2 longer days, or 3 full days. Prices should be ~$200 for the 2 day course, or ~$365 for AIARE I.
