Join us for an awesome, laid back day of backcountry downhill skiing at Doublehead! We're hoping to get 2 (or more) runs in, and we'll be bringing a 2 burner propane stove to cook some food at the bottom in between laps. When our legs are sufficiently burned out, we'll pack up for the day and head back to Boston, hopefully in time to watch the Super Bowl.

Doublehead ski trail is a 1930s era ski trail built by the CCC. We'll skin 1.8 miles from the road to the top of the mountain, where there is a cabin that can be rented out from the USFS. We'll enjoy the 1500' drop full of double fall lines and blue-to-black steepness. You can see some pictures here: http://www.newenglandskihistory.com/cccskitrails/NewHampshire/doublehead.php

We'll be using whatever gear is leftover from the Slog the Cog trip, so chances are most people will either be on Telemark skis be on Alpine Trekkers, which allow your to free your heel and skin up a mountain on normal alpine skis. If you don't want to telemark, you will need your own alpine skis for this trip, and we may need to reduce the trip size based on available equipment.

The ski trail is only about 15 minutes from the Intervale cabin, so we suggest you stay there Saturday night, especially if you are doing a Saturday trip.

Please answer the following questions in the notes field: 1. What has been your favorite winter school trip so far? 2. When was the last time you skied? 3. Do you have any of your own ski equipment (downhill or AT) or would you like to telemark? 4. Do you have any food allergies or restrictions? 5. Are you doing a Saturday trip and where are you coming from on Sunday morning?
