We're going to make an attempt for the top of the East Coast!
Saturday night we'll plan to stay at Intervale to get an early start to our hike. Sunday we'll head to Mount Washington to hike up the Lion's Head Winter route to the summit. The trail is 8.4 miles with a whopping 4300 ft of elevation gain. The trail is very steep in places and crampons and ice axes will be a must.
Great fitness, Crampons, Ice Axe, and at least one official Above Treeline trip during Winter School are all required.
Skills to improve include self-arrest, above treeline travel, and possibly navigation depending on the weather!
The weather for the weekend looks quite cold, so we'll also come up with a contingency plan for a nearby peak. It will be above / below treeline depending on the conditions.
