Join us this Sunday for a hike up Mt. Liberty and Mt. Flume, two iconic 4,000-footers in the Pemi! We'll make our way up via the Liberty Springs Trail enjoying some spectacular views along the way. Expect a challenging but rewarding day in the mountains, with cold temps but hopefully some great summit views!
The full route is approximately 10–11 miles with 4,200 feet of elevation gain. You can check out the route here.
Pre-reqs
This will be an active and strenuous day. Participants should have prior hiking experience (at least 6 - 8 miles with 3000ft of elevation gain). Since it is going to be cold, we will maintain a brisk pace and be quick and efficient taking breaks!
If you’re unsure whether this trip is a good fit, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to chat and help you decide!
Logistics
We’ll have a required pre-trip meeting on zoom on Thursday at 7:00 pm to go over plans. Before the meeting, we’ll send out a few short forms—please complete them on time so we can finalize logistics smoothly.
On Sunday, we’ll leave Cambridge at 6:00 am and stop for breakfast along the way.
Driving & Lottery
If you’re able to drive (your own car or a rental), please indicate this in your lottery preferences. Sign up to drive only if you can commit to the full round trip from the Boston/Cambridge area!
Costs
Expected costs include ~$30–50 for shared transportation. We’ll split driving costs evenly using the MIT car cost calculator.
