[We will expand to more than 3 participants if there are more driver signups. So please do sign-up for the waitlist] Join us this Saturday for one of the most beautiful 4000 footers in the Whites: Mt. Carrigain!

We’ll hike Mount Carrigain via Signal Ridge which offers sweeping views of the surrounding peaks and Pemi Wilderness. From Carrigain’s summit fire tower, we’ll enjoy one of the best 360-degree views in the Whites. We’ll then continue through remote wilderness, passing the scenic Nancy and Norcross Ponds on our way out.

The full route is approximately 17.3 miles with around 5,000 feet of elevation gain. Route is here.

Pre-reqs

This will be an active and strenuous day. We’ll aim for a steady pace with limited breaks to stay on schedule.

We recommend that participants have recent experience with hikes in the 12 - 15 mile range. If you’re unsure whether this trip is a good fit, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to chat and help you decide!

Logistics

We’ll have a required pre-trip meeting at MIT on Thursday at 6pm to go over plans. Before the meeting, we’ll send out a few short forms—please complete them on time so we can finalize logistics smoothly.

On Saturday, we’ll leave Cambridge at 6:00 am and stop for breakfast along the way.

Driving & Lottery

If you’re able to drive (your own car or a rental), please indicate this in your lottery preferences. Only sign up to drive if you can commit to the full round trip from the Boston/Cambridge area.

Costs

Expected costs include~$25–40 for shared transportation. We’ll split driving costs evenly using the MIT car cost calculator.
