Did you know that the MITOC office has paddleboards? Would you like to see a body of water that is not the Charles?? Do you enjoy testing your balance? Then sign up for this beginner-friendly paddleboarding trip to the Mystic Lakes on Sunday July 5th.

Plan: We will meet at the MITOC office at 8:30 am to grab the paddleboards + life jackets, and will head out to the Mystic Lakes (specifically, Upper Mystic Lake public boat ramp). Once there, we will inflate our paddleboards and go paddling for about ~1.5-2 hours (or until everyone gets tired), with an optional attempt at doing some yoga on our paddleboards for the last half an hour. We will then head back to Boston to hopefully be back by 12pm!

~Please note that paddleboarding experience is not necessary, but you do need to know how to swim.~

Notes: There will be a $15 rental cost for the paddleboards + small contribution to the carpool.

To avoid growing mold, paddleboards must be dried prior to being returned to the MITOC office the following week (during office hours on Tuesday or Thursday!).

Also note that in the event of poor weather, a wind forecast over 10 knots, or a water quality advisory, we may have to cancel the trip.

How to have fun on the trip: It being a paddleboarding trip, you should wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet in + bring a spare change of clothes and a towel in case you fall in. We won’t wear shoes on the paddleboards (unless you have water shoes that you want to wear, which is fine), so either wear sneakers and leave them in the car, or you can tie them to the paddleboard. I actually recommend wearing sandals, so you don’t have to wade into the water barefoot :)

Wear LOTS of sunscreen and put it everywhere that is exposed to the sun: forearms, feet… Also sunglasses and a hat. Also bring water on the board with you if you think you’ll get thirsty. MITOC has some dry bags for rent if you think you’ll need one.

Can’t wait to see you on the trip.!
