Trade the hiking boots for some lake vibes and become a MITOC Stand-Up Paddle boarding leader!
This is a stand-up paddleboarding leader orientation for current MITOC leaders interested in leading beginner-friendly paddleboarding trips. Priority will be given to active leaders who are enthusiastic about organizing official SUP trips.
Prerequisites
Current MITOC (co-)leader
Prior paddleboarding experience (you need to be comfortable enough on the boards to be able to confidently lead a trip)
Able to swim
Expecting to lead at least one 'official' SUP trip this season
Itinerary
- 8:30 am | Meet at MITOC Office (MIT Student Center). Load boards onto cars.
- 9:00 am | Drive to Mystic Lake
- 9:30 am | Inflate boards and paddle on the lake
- 11:30 pm | Pack down and leader orientation discussion (trip planning logistics and safety info)
- 12:00 pm | Drive back to MIT
Notes
All participants on this trip will take a paddleboard home to dry after the trip
In case of poor weather, we will reschedule to Sat 5/23
Lottery will run on 5/13 but, if we are oversubscribed I will manually adjust lottery results to prioritize leaders who are most likely to lead official trips
