🥳☀️⛰️🔥 Get excited for 3S!!! Save the date for our first 3S training of the year! If you'd like to become a 3S leader, please hold off on submitting an application for now -- we may be updating the app for the new season.

🔥 Do you want to lead hikes with us this spring and summer? (yes! it's the best!)

🚂 To become a three season (3S) hiking (co)leader, you'll need to attend a 3S hiking safety/training seminar. This month's seminar:

  • Wednesday, May 06, 6:30PM - 7:30PM in person at MIT (room TBD)
  • Zoom option available (link will be sent only to those registered).
  • We'll likely have food and transition post-training into a trip planning social!

To become a 3-season co-leader with MITOC you will need to:

  • Have participated in at least 2 official MITOC hiking trips
  • Submit an application at mitoc-trips.mit.edu/hiking/leaders/apply (please hold off for now as we may update for the new season and will have to ask you to re-fill it out!)
  • Attend a 3-season hiking safety/training seminar (like this one!)

To become a 3S (full) leader:

  • You can move from a co-leader to full leader status after leading 2 hikes as co-leader and receiving upgrade recommendations from full leaders on these trips
  • We will also assign full-leader status on a case-by-case evaluation of previous outdoor leadership expertise, including your leader rating from Winter School, if applicable.
  • Read more at mitoc.mit.edu/get-involved/become-3-season-leader

New here and not sure how leading hikes with MITOC works?

  • Join a hike, circus, or local trail run as a participant!
  • Come and hang out with us during social events or say hi during office hours!
  • Email questions to 3s-hiking-chair@mit.edu
