- At least three moderate difficulty winter hikes in the Whites or a similar mountain range; above tree-line experience great but not necessary
On Saturday, join Jordan and James on an above-treeline adventure to Mt. Monroe! This a great trip for participants who already have experience with winter hiking, and would like to gain above-treeline experience.
We'll plan to hike up the Ammonoosuc "Ammo" Ravine trail to the AMC Lake of the Clouds Hut. From there we'll assess the conditions and continue to the summit of Mt. Monroe if they are favorable. The overall hike is approx 7.2 miles and 3000' of elevation gain.
This is a steep hike, so good physical fitness and efficient movement on the terrain will be important. Crampons, ice axe, and full face cover with ski goggles are required.

There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting at the student center on Thursday at 6pm before the lecture to go over important trip info and gear.
