Join us for a joyful jaunt up to beautiful Lonesome Lake in Franconia Notch State Park. This is a pretty easy/chill hike of ~3 miles (4.5km) distance and ~1,000ft (300m) elevation. At the top there's the aforementioned lovely lake and also AMC hut – depending on people's interests we can bring stoves and make hot beverages by the lake and/or stop by the hut.

Route: Starting at Lafayette Campground, following Lonesome Lake Trail to and around the lake, then back down the same way (see here).

Weather: The weather forecast is currently looking pretty cold and windy, with no precipitation, but that can change in the next few days – we will be closely monitoring it. In case there is another snowstorm happening on Saturday, we may do a local hike instead to avoid driving in hazardous conditions.

Logistics: MANDATORY pre-trip meeting Thursday 1/29 at 5:45pm near the MITOC office. We'll depart Cambridge early Saturday morning. If you can drive your own car or are willing to rent, please edit the lottery preferences on your profile to show this.

Costs: $5 trip fee, any personal gear rentals (capped at $15) and $30-50 carpooling costs. We'll use the MIT car cost calculator and share costs equally among all participants.
