Come, hang out and learn how to fix some of the gear you used during this past Winter School!

Event details

We will meet on Wed Jan 28 in the MITOC office at 6.30pm to fix personal and club gear.

The event is open for people to bring their damaged gear and soft goods and perform/attempt/plan repairs.

If you don't have anything broken but you enjoy fixing stuff just come along, MITOC has a lot of broken items that you can have a look at and try to solve.

Gear repairs suited for this event

  • Microspikes with open or lost links
  • Snowshoes with broken straps
  • Hiking crampons that have lost their edges
  • Backpacks with buckles or straps that came loose
  • Tents with bent poles or ripped fabrics or cases that are falling apart.
  • Ripped soft goods (either fabric or membranes)
  • Clothing you would like to alter
  • Metal items you would like to engrave

Note that we will not touch any climbing, skiing or cycling gear at this time.

Tools and supplies

MITOC has tools (vises, pliers, files) and will be providing basic supplies such as Gear Aid tape, straps and cord. We will have 2 sewing machines and heavy fabric in few colors.

Notes
  1. If hypothetically we were to order food, what would you like to eat?
  2. Do you actually have any dietary restriction?
  3. For real, are you bringing any personal gear to fix or would you like to practice on MITOC's gear?
