Do you like to sleep in? Would you rather not spend 5 hours in a car in one day? Then skip the Whites and join us for a chilly day in the Blue Hills, only a ~25 minute drive from Cambridge.
We'll go on a pretty chill loop, something like ~4mi (~7km) distance & ~1000 ft (~325m) elevation. It's a great opportunity to practice your layering, traction use, triangle of happiness, and all that good Winter School stuff. Depending on people's interest we can also get practice with gear you may not have used before, like winter stoves and emergency shelters. Turns out required group safety gear isn't just training weight, you can actually use it!
This is a beginner-friendly trip -- we'll hike at a moderate pace and cultivate good vibes.
Prerequisites:
- Fitness level for a 4mi / 1k ft hike
- Willingness to be out on a cooold day (forecast is currently a high of 14°F / -10°C)
Logistics:
- Mandatory in person pre-trip meeting Thursday 1/22 at 6pm near the MITOC office.
