We'll be going to the Middlesex Fells for a short (4.5miles) but cold loop. If you want to test your layers, practice reading maps, and using stove, this is your chance!
Pre-trip meeting at 5:45pm on Thursday at MITOC office. Meeting will be kept to a minimum to allow maximum time for rental.
Saturday is going to be an exceptionally cold day, thanks to some polar vortex formation, in an statistically already cold week in the GBA (3rd-4th week of January). A shortish hike in the Fells is a good opportunity to test your layers, both during rest and on the move.
We'll also play with the whisper light and pocket rocket stoves available from the MITOC inventory. Will the stoves work differently under the cold temp? Only one way to find out.
Plan for a luxury starting time of 9am (leave MIT by 8:30 am), and a return of around 1pm (around 1:30 back to MIT).
