Join us this Sunday to summit Mount Wachusett in a beginner friendly hike with 360-degree views and an easy start time! This trip will be a great opportunity to practice winter hiking fundamentals (layering/de-layering, microspikes, and maybe even some butt sledding!)

Details

The trail is an hour drive from Boston and the hike will be relatively short and sweet so we will plan to leave Boston at 9am. The trail (AllTrails link) promises to be a 4.7 mile loop with 1150ft of elevation, a bit of rock scramble at the beginning and an open viewing area at the top.

❄️ Snow is forecasted for Sunday so we should enjoy a wonderful white terrain (though views might be limited). Everyone should be prepared to bring microspikes which can be rented from MITOC. It is also going to be cold (single digits or low teens) so layering will be extra important. We will discuss more at our pre-trip meeting.

Prerequisites

No experience prerequisites for this hike. Required gear are hiking boots (can be rented from MITOC), microspikes (can be rented from MITOC), and warm clothes.

Logistics

Mandatory pre-trip meeting: Thursday, January 22 at 9:00pm outside the MITOC office (W20-461).
