Beginner/Intermediate ice climbing for both those new to ice climbing and those who have ice climbed before. We will go over ice climbing basics at the start of the trip. There is a ~1.5 mile hike in to Arethusa Falls where we will set up some top rope climbs.
The air temperature is predicted to be below freezing all day and we will be standing next to a frozen waterfall. Be prepared for the reality that a major part of ice climbing is standing around not climbing, so you will need a good layer system and gloves/mittens to keep warm.
Please note that the pre-trip meeting will be Thursday at 5:30pm before lecture so that we have time to equip everyone with crampons, mountaineering boots, and other gear.
