Join us for culinary tour of Mount Jackson (NH48) and Mount Webster (52WAV) via the Jackson-Webster Loop Trail with jalapeno and wasabi treats!
Details
The hike is about 6.2 miles with about 2,400 feet of elevation gain. We'll be taking the Jackson-Webster Loop Trail. Mt. Jackson is located in the Presidential Range and has an exposed summit with beautiful views. Mt. Webster is a 52-with-a-view. The distance and elevation gain make this a moderate to hard hike.
Requirements
Fitness suitable for a >6 mile, ~2,400' elevation gain hike is required. We will be using microspikes and snowshoes.
Logistics
Mandatory pre-trip meeting at the MIT student center on Thursday, January 15 at 9 pm. We will discuss the route and check out gear. We will leave early on Monday morning.
We will need drivers for this trip! Please update your car status if you can drive others. If not, please select “not driving” or “will drive self.” You must be prepared to rent a car if you have selected “willing to rent.” (MIT provides discounted car rental to affiliates, and we will evenly split rental/gas costs).

- Notes
- Please describe your most recent, similar winter hike, if any (distance, how recent). If none, please describe your most recent, similar 3-season hike and what winter activities you do that make you confident with your layering in the cold.
- What do you do on a weekly basis for exercise?
- Do you have a car (or are willing to rent) and drive to and from Cambridge?
- How do you think a raw jalapeño would taste at the top of a mountain in sub-freezing temperatures?
