Start off Winter School with a short and sweet hike up Mount Major! The hike is 4 miles with 1150ft of elevation gain and features beautiful views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the White Mountains.

This is a beginner-friendly trip. We will be hiking at a slow to moderate pace. To get an idea of the route, see here.

Prerequisites

  • Must be fit to do a 4-mile hike

Logistics

  • Mandatory in-person pre-trip meeting at MIT student center on Thu 1/8 before the safety lecture where we will discuss the route and check out any gear you might need.

  • We will depart Cambridge Sunday morning bright and early at 6:30am.

  • If you can drive or are willing to rent a car, please update it on your profile to show this.

  • As for all MITOC winter trips, please budget $5 for trip fee as well as between $30-50 for sharing the cost of carpooling. Undergrads do not pay trip fees and may receive a "starter kit" with compass, whistle, headlamp and hand warmers from MITOC. We will split car costs based on the car cost calculator. If you are an MIT undergrad, this cost can be reimbursed.
