MITOC is exploring coordinating access to the Pat’s Peak Learn to Ski/Snowboard Passport Program this winter. If you’ve been thinking about trying skiing or snowboarding, this could be a fun way to meet people, carpool, learn together, and maybe even plan future ski days.

Pat’s Peak is about ~90 minutes from Boston, so it’s one of the closer full-service ski areas. It’s beginner-friendly but has enough terrain to progress, plus solid snowmaking, so conditions are usually reliable January-March. The run the Passport Program which costs $669 and includes: - 4 ski or snowboard lessons - Rental equipment for lessons - A pair of skis (or a snowboard) with bindings at the end of the program - A season pass for continued visits afterward

⚠️Note:

MITOC isn’t running the lessons (Pat’s Peak does), and we don’t benefit from this: we’re just helping coordinate rideshares and logistics since it’s worked well for MITOCers in the past. Since this program is external, we can't arrange reimburse/ arrange financial aid, pay with desk credits etc.

Logistics:

We’d ideally want ~12–20 people interested to make this viable, and it’ll depend on driver availability. Just trying to gauge interest for now.

We’re thinking of 4-5 consecutive Sundays: Jan 11, 18, 25 and Feb 1 & 8. (We can add more days depending on interest). Plan to leave Boston/Cambridge around 6:30am and return around 6:30pm. We would need you to make a commitment to attend at least 3-4 of these 5 days! (We can add an extra day based on interest)

Program notes:

• Only for beginners/ if you haven’t skied or snowboarded before.
• This is separate from Winter School (WS)
• You need an active MITOC membership (waiver + dues up to date)
• WS lectures attendance is not required to be a part of this program
• If you are doing WS as well, you must attend the mandatory lectures and only sign up for WS trips that don’t run on Sundays
