Ice climbing TRS

Leaders
Cole Crawford, Florian Pagnoux
Trip date
Wednesday, December 10th
Difficulty rating
Easy
Prerequisites
Previous experience ice climbing. Interest in becoming an ice MITOC leader.

Are you already in love with ice climbing, but still feeling like you have much more to learn to be able to climb safely on your own, or be in charge of others? Come to the MITOC office for an Ice climbing TRS (Technical Review Session).

We'll be covering:

  • evaluating ice quality (as much as we can in a classroom)
  • conditions scouting
  • how to prepare for trips
  • general requirements to become a MITOC leader
  • other questions you may have

This event is primarily intended for MITOC Winter School leaders who already have some experience ice climbing, especially those aspiring to become (co)I down the line. It is also open to other MITOCers who ice climb. It is however not an introduction to ice climbing. For this, hang tight: we'll have a lecture during Winter School!
