Winter Garfield!
Come hike Mount Garfield! We'll be hiking this trail.
What is this trip
This is a 12-ish mile trip up and down (5 miles out and 5 miles back + extra walk-up to the trailhead) a relatively constant slope. The steepness is usually high teens and seldom more.
Garfield is a great forest walk that finishes with peaking above the treeline for a beautiful view of the Pemi!
Where
The trailhead is a little over 2 hours north of Boston.
When
Daylight is scarce as of late, so we'll leave early morning on Saturday the 29th.
Weather
Current forecasts are spotty given the time until the hike, but it looks like we're expecting 10F-ish temps, and some snow getting dumped throughout the week. If you don't have snowshoes, you'll need to stop by office hours on Tuesday night to check out snowshoes.
Why?
Winter hiking is fun! Don't believe us? Come hiking!
Want to stretch your legs after black Friday? Come hiking!
Not sure how to resolve that major life decision you've been pondering lately? Come hiking!
Gear Office
The student center closes for the holiday on Wednesday night. This means the last regularly scheduled time you can rent gear from the gear office is Tuesday night!
If you think you need gear for this trip, you'll need to check out gear Tuesday night.
