An excellent trip for people who are not quite ready for a "medium" level hike but want to try out winter hiking!
We will be hiking 2.3 miles with 1600' of elevation gain to the summit of Mount Monadnock. Along the way, we'll stop at the Halfway House Site which has an interesting history. The summit features some spectacular views of the area, and is only a 1.5 hour drive from Boston. We will take the same trail to descend, totaling 4.6 miles round trip.
We will practice using our layered clothing, trying out our winter hiking foods, and using traction.
