This ain't Texas, ain't no hold 'em, so lay your cards down, down, down, down and join us this Sunday for a hike up the Carters!
Route: a loop of around 12 miles and over 4600' of elevation gain, summiting several mountains in the Carter-Moriah range including the 4000-footers Carter Dome, South Carter, and Middle Carter. Time permitting, we may also visit Imp Face, a cliff with spectacular views of the Northern Presidentials and Pinkham Notch, which would extend the route by around 2 miles/500'.
Logistics:
- Mandatory pre trip meeting on Thursday at 7 PM over Zoom
- Plan to leave Cambridge at 5 AM on Sunday
- It will be cold (potentially well below freezing) in the mountains this weekend, so proper hiking layers will be essential
- We will need a driver for this trip; please update your car status for the lottery if you can drive others (including if you are willing to rent)
Prerequisites: This is a long and strenuous hike with a lot of elevation gain, and we plan to maintain a strong pace with minimal breaks. You should have experience hiking at least 10+ miles with 3000'+ of elevation gain in the White Mountains or similarly challenging terrain. To ensure that all participants are able to enjoy this hike, sign up does not guarantee selection for the trip.
