Want to try out backpacking? Come join us as we spend the night at* the firetower on North Kearsarge! EDIT: At Penacook leanto on Mt Chocorua!
This trip is designed to be beginner friendly and you don't need to have any previous backpacking experience. You should have done a couple day hikes of at least 4-5 miles in the white mountains or similar terrain. The hike will be ~3mi, 2.5k ft elevation up, then the same in reverse the next day, (total ~6mi, 2.5kft)~ EDIT: 3 miles, 2k ft day 1 and about 6 miles, 0.5k ft day 2. The trail is a bit steep, and we will be carrying heavy packs with all our food, water, and camping gear.
Schedule: Saturday afternoon - hike up to the shelter, make camp, cook dinner, watch sunset, practice any skills folks are interested in. Sunday morning - wake up early, potentially hike to the summit for, cook breakfast, hike out
Costs Your own food for breakfast and dinner ($10-$30), gas costs ($30-$50 / person), rental gear ($20 -$30)
*The firetower is small and first come first serve. We will bring tents and camp nearby if another group is already in the tower.
