Did you know there's a giant camel's hump in Vermont? It's over 4,000ft tall! And we're going to hike up it.
Join us on a hike up Camel's Hump in Vermont, where we explore one of the most iconic mountains that Vermont has to offer. (Vermont's Green Mountains are the greenest green you'll ever have seen!) This will happen during the Green Mountain Club's Long Trail Day hike-a-thon, which is a good time to get introduced to Vermont's trail system.
We'll meet at the MIT Student Center roughly around 4:30am (Vermont is far away!). Our route will be a 7.6 mile lollipop route, spending roughly 2 miles on Vermont's Long Trail (the oldest long distance hiking trail in the country). The area around the summit involves some technical scrambling in one of Vermont's few remaining alpine zones.
Forecasted conditions for Saturday are currently in the mid to high 40s 🥶 but we'll keep an eye as we get closer.
If we finish early and people are interested, we can visit and potentially tour the Ben & Jerry's factory in nearby Waterbury on the way home.
There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting on Thursday, Sept. 18th at 8pm over Zoom to discuss expectations, logistics, and trip conditions.
We will need a car for this trip, so preference may be given to drivers. Please make sure your car status is updated if you can drive others (including if you are willing to rent).
