Camping and hiking gear and the physical fitness to hike 10+ mi and 4000+ ft of elevation gain

Spend the weekend hiking, camping, and enjoying s’mores and good company in Gorham, NH! We'll be staying at Barnes Field Campground, located right next to the Presidential Range in the White Mountains. On Saturday, we’ll hike Mt. Washington and Mt. Monroe via the Ammonoosuc Ravine and Jewell Trails, a 10.2-mile loop with about 4,220 feet of elevation gain.

Action Dates

Friday, August 1 - Trip sign-up closes and lottery runs at 6pm.

Monday, August 4: Trip fee payment deadline at 6pm for participants that cleared the lottery at the first run. Participants added from the waitlist have 3 days to pay the fee to secure their spot on the trip.

Monday, August 11: Last chance to cancel and request a refund will be at 6pm. We will only provide a refund if we're able to fill your spot.

Wednesday, August 13: Mandatory Pre-Trip Meeting at 6:00 pm on Zoom.

Friday, August 15: Trip departure!

Sunday, August 17: Trip return!

Cost

The trip cost is $40. Accepted participants will receive an email with instructions to pay via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle.

Gear Rentals

Don’t have all the camping gear? No problem! MITOC offers rentals for many essentials like tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and headlamps. MIT affiliates receive discounted rates. You can find more information on available items and rental procedures on the MITOC Gear Rental page.

Meals

We will provide breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. You are responsible for all other meals.

About the Lottery

This trip currently has a capacity limit of 8 participants. When the lottery runs, an initial population for the trip will be selected and placed on the cleared list by the lottery. Anyone not selected by the lottery will be placed on a waitlist. As participants withdraw or are removed from the cleared list (as always happens) during the following days, participants from the waitlist will be cleared to replace those who have withdrawn or been removed.

If you would like to bring a friend, partner, spouse, etc. on this trip, make sure that both of you include each other's names in the lottery preferences before the selection runs. Lottery preferences can be submitted here.
