Join us on the inaugural day of Winter School trips for a 6.4-mile (round-trip) hike up Mount Pierce in the southern Presidential Range of the White Mountains! Its name honors the only president born in New Hampshire, although prior to 1913 it was known as Mount Clinton. We will take the Crawford Path on a gradual climb up 2,400 feet towards the summit at 4,312 feet. A section along this path is considered to be the oldest continuously maintained trail in North America (since 1819). In the event we negotiate the path up to the summit and do it ahead of schedule, then if everyone elects, we may circle around the Webster Cliff Trail and Mizpah Cutoff on our way down (adding 0.2 miles), which meets back up with the Crawford Path.
