Spring snowmelt is right around the corner and so is our favorite activity: whitewater kayaking! In preparation for getting out on the rivers soon, we are offering a second round of kayak rolling instruction in the Alumni Pool on Fridays. No kayaking experience is necessary, although you must be able to swim and be comfortable under water. These lessons are targeted at complete beginners. This is a great chance to pick up some useful skills that will make spring/summer boating trips much more enjoyable and allow you to progress more rapidly.
We’ll run another lottery on Thursday, 2/27, for the second set of three pool sessions on 2/28, 3/7 and 3/14. Please commit as best you can to coming to all three sessions before you enter the lottery; we know that things come up and you may have to cancel, but it usually takes multiple sessions to learn to roll.
You must be a MITOC member with a signed waiver to participate. Cost will be $27 for three pool sessions (this is just to cover the pool rental fee). We also have nose clips available for an additional $10 (these are reusable). Please don't pay until after the lottery results are in. Pool sessions will be 7-9pm at the Alumni Pool (Stata Center).
Signups for the lottery are open. We’ll notify people on the waitlist of any spots available due to cancellations.
