Prerequisites
Two B hikes (i.e. in the Whites or similar terrain, not the Fells) or harder under winter snowy conditions during past year, good physical fitness to do at least 5 miles and 1800+ elevation gain.

We’ll be trekking a up Mt Cardigan (3155ft) in search of beautiful sunrise summit views! We'll sleep over at Camelot Friday night and wake up early for a sunrise attempt. After our hike, we'll return to Camelot where we will nap, play board games, have snacks, be cozy by the wood stove, and maybe try to build some snow forts :)

Note: If there is minimal interest in sunrise, or if conditions look unfavorable we may shift the start time of this hike to later in the morning. We need at least 1 driver for this trip, ideally 2

This hike will have ~1800 feet of elevation gain and be ~5miles. But don’t let those numbers fool you, this is a challenging hike with potentially icy terrain and a summit area above treeline. This hike will be made even more challenging by the fast that we will be starting in the dark and hiking with headlamps for the ascent. Cardigan is a great smaller peak to get your first taste of above-treeline terrain before venturing into the higher summits! N.b. goggles and full face coverings may be needed based on summit temperature and wind conditions, so will be required gear for all participants.

Requirements: Strong physical fitness with recent hiking or similar endurance activity, prior experience with winter layering, hydration, and fueling. Having hiked at least two B-level (below treeline, at least 1hr from intensive care) hikes in the whites under winter conditions. Comfort with waking up at ~4am. Comfort with hiking in the dark with headlamps.
