Come learn how to skate ski at Weston Ski Track! We will ski Wednesday night from ~7-9pm.
There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting on zoom Tuesday at 7 pm to go over logistics and gear.
This trip is aimed for beginners who have some prior downhill or classic skiing experience, or ice skating/roller blading experience. Skate skiing involves a lot of coordination, and can be challenging to pick up for those who have never been on skis before. We will start with the basics of how to skate ski, and then hit the trails for a chill skate. Hopefully all the trails will be open with the forecasted dump of snow this weekend!
Weston Ski Track has night skiing and makes snow, making it a great option for an evening winter outing.
Unfortunately, MITOC does not have skate ski equipment, but Weston rents everything that you'll need so we will need to rent from the nordic center on site. A breakdown of costs for the trip is: - Skate skis, boots, poles: $26 - Trail pass: $13 Financial aid is available for MIT students
We'll have a nice evening of skiing and leave Cambridge at ~5:45 pm (traffic can be a little tricky in the evenings) to arrive by 6:30pm to rent skis. We'll then go over the basics of skate skiing starting around 7:00pm and can ski until Weston closes at 9:00 pm (conditions permitting).
