Confident skiing glades equivalent to resort black diamond in thin coverage conditions

Prerequisites: This trip is for skiers who have some experience with backcountry gear, but if you are a confident skiier and winter hiker feel free to reach out to us before signing up for the trip to see if this trip is right for you! You should be comfortable climbing about 3000' in a day and a confident skier in varied conditions. We are planning to skin at a brisk pace so be comfortable moving quickly with efficient breaks for 6+ hours.

Bzzz bzzz! There’s snow in VT! And more on the way this week!!!

We’ll be glade skiing somewhere in middle Vermont, likely ~3 hr from Boston, possibly Brandon Gap, Bolton, or Braintree. …so high likelihood the location name starts with a B!!!

This will be a very early morning to go backcountry skiing in the trees in Vermont. To have fun and be safe on this trip, you should be confident skiing in glades, and on black runs at a resort. You should be comfortable starting your day skiing on a black diamond run as there will not be an opportunity to warm up on easier terrain.

There will likely be sections with thin snow coverage, variable snow conditions, and there will be obstacles (rocks, trees, uneven terrain). Backcountry skiing is a combination of skills (winter hiking & alpine skiing) and we want to make sure everyone is prepared enough to have fun and be safe on this trip.

There is a flat fee of $30 for all Winter School Ski Trips, which includes rentals. To reimburse drivers for gas and wear and tear anticipate an additional cost of $40-60.
