Prerequisites
Experience with similarly difficult hikes and physical fitness commensurate with a steep climb and a ledgy scramble. Previous winter hiking experience and confidence with managing layers in cold temperatures is also required.

Join us for a lovely, difficult hike up Mt. Whiteface!

This 8 miles, out-and-back trail features almost 3000 feet of elevation gain and beautiful views from the many open ledges off Blueberry ledge trail. The ledges are very exposed, particularly in winter, which means gorgeous views, but participants should be comfortable with scrambles and heights.

The weather forecast currently suggests a clear day with very low temperatures (possibly single digit °F) and fesh snow from the previous night. We will monitor the forecast and update participants before the trip.

There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting by the MITOC Office on Thursday Jan 30th at 6.30pm. More details will be sent to trip participants after the lottery runs.

If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the “Lottery preferences” on your MITOC profile to show this. Please budget for 5$ trip fees + gear rental costs (capped at 15$) + rideshare expenses (approx 20-50$)
