About 10 km of trail running near Walden Pond reservation. We'll start much later than most hiking trips, leaving from Fake Cambridge at around 10:00, returning around 13:00.

Route: The terrain is not rugged, but there is some opportunity for short and moderate hills if we feel like it. We'll add more details about the route later, and discuss among the group. Here are 10-, 12-, and 15-km loops I've done.

Pre-trip meeting: 6:30 pm on Thursday near the MITOC office. I'll bring a sign to tape to the wall, and dress conspicuously like a runner.

Gear:

  • safety gear required for A-level trips (compass, whistle, light...)
  • microspikes or nanospikes
  • an extra layer in case we are slower than expected
  • some way of carrying the above when not using them
  • what you've worn in the past for running in similar temperatures

  1. Tell us about your running experience.
  2. Tell us about your trail-running experience.
  3. What's the fastest you'd be happy running 10 km (on roads)? What's the slowest speed at which you'd still be having fun?
  4. Have you ever run in microspikes? How did it go?
