Interested in relatively chill above treeline travel with views of mountains and lakes? Join us for a trip up Mt Chocorua on Sunday out-and-back via Champney Falls!
Chocorua is unique in that it allows you to go above treeline at significantly lower elevation (3500') than the Presis. This trip is around ~7 miles (11 km) with ~2200 ft (670 m) of elevation gain, with nearly 1 mile (1.6 km) above treeline
As this is an above-treeline trip, it should not be your first winter hike, but prior above treeline experience is not required. You should be prepared with: - Full skin coverage (goggles, balaclava) - Ice axe and crampons - Dialed winter layering
There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting Thursday after lecture where leaders can answer questions and help participants rent gear.
