This hike is a 4.4 mile loop with ~1800 ft of elevation gain - we are going to experience the best of all worlds hiking Mt. Welch and Mt. Dickey!

  • easy introductory/moderate hike
  • 52 with a view = incredible elevation gain to views ratio
  • 2 summits in 1 hike
  • we will practice using crampons and ice axes
  • dedicated practice time for other technical skills, including setting up emergency shelter, self-arresting w/ ice axe, butt-sledding, stove ignition, warm drink drinking, peeing in the woods, etc.
  • did we mention butt-sledding?
  • it will be cold and there may be times when we are not moving (during aforementioned skills practice times) so prepare for locking in your layering and cold-management system.

Bring a warm beverage (tea, cocoa, cider, etc) for us to heat up with our stoves!

There will be a pre-trip meeting on Thursday evening, time TBD.
