Join us for an easy hike at the World's End Reservation

It’s the end of the world as you know it! Join us for a day of easy apocalypse/R.E.M. themed hiking along tree-lined carriage paths and footpaths offering dramatic views of the Weir River, Hingham Harbor, and the Boston skyline. We will leave the Boston/Cambridge area at a reasonable hour and drive to World’s End Reservation near Hingham on the South Shore.

We will hike around 4-5 miles with a little more than 200ft elevation gain. The weather will likely be in the 20s with some coastal winds, so there will be an opportunity to practice layering for above-tree line hikes, and to discover which hiking foods won't freeze. We will also practice using biveys and bothys to prepare for the end of the world!

Microspikes and some form of full-face covering will be required. Ski goggles or glasses/sunglasses are needed for eye protection. Since there is currently a chance of morning snow showers we will be asking everyone to bring a wind/waterproof layer.

Be prepared to discuss which skills will help you survive the eventual collapse of society and/or your favorite R.E.M. song

There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting this Thursday evening Note: There's a $15-per-car parking fee at the beach, which we'll all chip in for.
