We're going to hike Tom, Avalon, and Field, hitting 3 peaks in 6.5 miles! This is a moderate hike, so some prior experience is preferred, though not required. This is a classic winter hike that should yield excellent views!
We'll begin our adventure from the AMC Highland Center, traveling up the Avalon Trail and then splitting off to the ridge. We plan to take a quick jaunt up the Mount Tom Spur to tag our first peak of the day if our pace allows the out-and-back milelong excursion. Venturing further to Mount Field, our second NH 4000 Footer, we'll then loop back to the small but mighty side peak Mount Avalon.
We'll need microspikes for sure, potentially snowshoes depending on the forecast.
The hike is around 6.5 miles and almost 3,000 feet of elevation gain including Mount Tom.
