Welch-Dickey is a 4.5 mile loop with ~1700ft of elevation gain, placing it squarely in the easy-to-moderate realm. If that wasn't enough, it has one of the best views to elevation ratios in the White Mountains, and a variety of interesting winter terrain! This is a great first or second foray into winter hiking for participants with some 3-season experience, offering opportunities to practice layering and different kinds of traction.
Time permitting, we'll have an opportunity to dilly-dally near the summit and take some time to break out the stoves, make some hot drinks, and practice staying warm while stationary. It will get quite cold, so participants should be sure to bring sufficient layers. Please email us if you have any doubts!

Prerequisites
Have you done a hike that's ≥ 4 mi and ≥ 800 ft of gain in the last year? Are you prepared to be stationary in the cold for up to an hour? If so, you're good to go! If not, that's fine too, but please email the leaders and briefly describe your hiking experience (if any) and workout routine (if any). This trip is open to all, but we do want to have a general sense of everyone's fitness level to make sure it's a good experience for everybody.
