Let's get outside and explore Boston's FREE ice skating scene with a trip to the Kelly Outdoor Rink in Jamaica Plain! Practice your skating skills, and learn more about Nordic / Wild ice skating!

We will plan to meet at the rink at 5:30pm and skate laps until they kick us off at 7:15pm (or earlier if we all get cold or bored). To introduce you to the world of wild ice skating, we will bring some nordic ice skates, relevant safety gear, and share some stories. All levels of skating experience are welcome. We are not skating instructors, but are happy to share tips and tricks.

Getting there: Kelly Rink is conveniently located behind the Stony Brook stop on the Orange Line. There is also a free parking lot if you choose to drive there.

Gear: - You can rent ice skates at the rink for only $5, or bring your own if you have them. - If you wish to try out Nordic Skates: bring solid winter boots with stiff ankle support, or XC ski boots. This is optional. - Even though this is a local trip, it still means no jeans. Wear layers, as you can warm up. - Gloves are mandatory. We don't want to get your hands sliced :) - This rink does not have concessions so bring snacks or a thermos to keep you going.

Meeting: TBD. We will probably have a brief Zoom check-in at a time that does not compete with the Thursday meetings.
