Prerequisites
Have completed a 7+mile winter hike with at least ~2500ft

Bag four White Mountain peaks, three of which are 4000-footers, with dramatic views into the Pemigewasset Wilderness and Crawford Notch!

This is a difficult and long trip (about 10 mi, 3500k feet elevation gain round-trip). You should be confident in your fitness and ability to hike steadily all day. This is a great chance to tackle a longer hike and practice using traction (we will require microspikes and may use snowshoes as well). Butt sledding is encouraged on this trail!

Route: Starting and ending at the AMC Highland Center in Crawford Notch, we'll follow the Avalon, A-Z, Mt. Tom Spur, and Willey Range Trails to reach the peaks of Mts. Tom, Field, Willey, and Avalon. The plan is to drive up from Boston/Cambridge, leaving at around 5am Saturday. See route:

Weather: Right now, it looks like we may have snow showers later on Saturday, so be prepared with solid shell clothing and face coverings. As always, weather is subject to change so be prepared for a wide range of conditions. We will discuss the updated forecast at the pre-trip meeting.

Logistics: MANDATORY pre-trip meeting will be at MIT at 6pm on Thursday January 16. We’ll depart Cambridge early Saturday morning. If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive, please edit the lottery preferences on your profile to show this.

Costs: Please budget for: $5 trip fee, $30-50 carpooling costs, any personal gear rentals (capped at $15), and any food you buy along the way.
