Trips pivoted to Cannon and Lonesome Lake via high cannon and Lonesome lake trail due to road conditions on the Kanc
We'll be heading up Mt Passaconaway form the north side which is about 10 miles, 3000ft of elevation. The north side is a less popular (but still lovely) route so we may have to break some trail. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/passaconaway-cutoff-trail
It may be snowing Saturday so we will carry snowshoes and microspikes.
This hike is fairly long and gets progressively steeper towards the summit. Strong fitness is required. Ideally, you've done a few hikes over 8 miles in the last 6 months and regularly do some form of cardio based fitness. Prior winter experience and layering skills are nice to have but not strictly required. We'll start early and aim to keep a steady pace (30 - 50 min miles inclusive of breaks) so we can aim to be down before it gets too dark. If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the lottery preferences on your MITOC profile to show this. Expected car cost per person is $25-40; if you are an MIT undergrad, this cost can be reimbursed.
There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting Thursday
