We'll be heading to Mount Morgan and Mount Percival for a moderate 5.4 mile loop hike, with approximately 1500 ft of elevation gain. Here's the trail we'll be hiking. The loop features fun ladders to climb up, boulder caves to shimmy through, and a beautiful view of nearby Squam Lake (if the weather cooperates).

During our hike, we'll take a break to drink frothy hot chocolate and tea in a bothy bag, a lightweight emergency shelter. Bring your own drinking utensil!

This is a great trip for someone who's hiked at least 4 miles before, and looking to venture into winter hiking! We'll be practicing layering and delayering along the way, and staying dry and happy.

MANDATORY pretrip meeting will be on Thursday Jan 9th 6:00pm on the 4th floor of the student lounge. We will review the route, rent out the necessary gear, and talk about other logistics. We’ll depart Cambridge early Saturday morning. If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive, please edit the lottery preferences on your profile to show this. This trip will need a couple of cars!

Costs: Please budget for: $5 trip fee, $30-50 carpooling costs, any personal gear rentals (capped at $15), and any food you buy along the way. Financial assistance is available for MIT affiliates, please ask trip leaders if interested! We intend to use the MIT car cost calculator and share costs equally among participants.
