We'll go on a ~3 mile hike in the Blue Hills Reservation south of Boston. We plan to follow the Skyline Trail up the Great Blue Hill (the tallest hill in the park, with the best views). There will be some ups and downs, totalling about 800 ft of elevation gain.
This is a great introductory hike if you are new to hiking in the winter (or hiking in general) and want to try out some new skills you've picked up in the Winter School lectures. We expect the weather to be around a chilly 30 F, so you can practice your layering!
Expect to leave MIT around 9:30 am and get back by 4 pm. We'll split gas costs (likely <$10 each)
Prerequisites:
- Proper clothing
- A desire to have fun!
There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting in-person at the MIT student center on Thursday, Jan 9 at 6 pm.
