What are we doing?

Come hike Carter Dome! We're planning to hike a challenging 4k footer. Time permitting, we'll stop by the neighboring summit of Mt Hight to take in the panoramic views of the northern presidentials!

Where are we going?

Carter Dome! It's about a 3 hour drive from MIT to the 19 mile brook trailhead in Pinkham notch. We'll be on the east side of the notch opposite the presidentials!

Safety Lectures, required?

Winter safety lectures are required for this hike! You need to have taken them in January, February, or November of this year to partake.

What Gear do we need?

Due to the forecast, we'll need to be layering for cold. We'll also be using various forms of traction to deal with the snow and ice. If you don't have winter layers, microspikes, and snowshoes, anticipate needing to rent this gear from the gear office.

What's the Route?

We're looking at roughly 9.75 miles of distance and about 3300 feet of elevation gain (16km of distance and 1 km of elevation gain).

What's the weather forecast?

A weather forecast can be found here. It looks to be a cold and snowy day on Sunday.

Mandatory pre-trip meeting?

There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting on Thursday evening at the gear office in the student center at 6pm. If you don't show up to the meeting, and don't make prior arrangements with the leaders, you will be dropped from the trip.
